The side of the metaphorical road is littered with the dessicated carcasses of former supercallers. Someday soon I may call that ditch my own resting place.
I got to listen to most of the first hour live, then my son needed to write a paper on the implications of the theory of relativity on the concept of freewill. If I seem to be blaming the boy, it's not intended; as much as I love The Best Show, it comes way after devotion to family on my priority list.
I should have just not called at all, but I was so anxious to let Tom know how excited I was that he was doing the show, that I went ahead after only hearing 2-3 minutes of the Ted Leo exchange that was going on at the time. I didn't hear the first part of Ted's call (until later on the archives), so was not aware that the topic had been changed. I was all prepared for "Things I Should Know That I Don't." I was not prepared for Take It/Leave It, and couldn't figure out why Tom kept saying "Take It". At first, I actually thought something was wrong with my phone.
Had I been better prepared, I would have gone with
Take It: Comedy (if it's good, it either makes you laugh or think)
Leave It: Comedy Zone
What I thought we would be talking about, a gaping hole in my own education, was "80's Punk." But my lesson in that subject's going to have to wait for another day. Maybe lucky for me the momentum wasn't stopped, as Roy was on hold, so Tom probably needed to be rid of me anyways.
In keeping with the spirit of this week's episode of 7 Second Delay, please accept my sincere and heartfelt apology, FOT community.
