 Coughing.

Sorry Paul, but it's sort of your Best Show Trademark.

He's obviously still listening. Probably just doesn't want to wear out his welcome. Leave 'em wanting more.

And as fun as those calls are, they do often change the tone of the show (occasionally veering into Sammy Maudlin territory). Still great, but different. He's leaving room for the slobs to call in so they can have their chance to shine. Otherwise he'll destroy the competition.

But yes, I look forward to the  next time he calls, but there needn't be any pressure to do so.

In an ideal world we'd still have the Best Show in it's current form while PFT and Tommy could create a spin-off show where they'd talk on the phone for an hour about whatever. There's a whole world of idiots and crappy pop culture that begs to be made fun of by the combined wit of "Tom-Tompkins".

PFT is a great caller, but the calls last a long time because Tom and Paul like each other a lot.  They get on a roll and just keep going.  Perhaps Paul wants to leave a little room for others?  HOWEVER, a PFT call is always welcome.

I like when PFT calls alright.  One time I didn't like his call, then someone on the chat told me I should listen again later and I'd think it was genius.  And they were pretty much right.  So I welcome more PFT with open arms.  Plus, he was really funny on Never Not Funny and totally owned when I saw him on The Match Game at UCBTLA last month.

Or, WHAT IF we let it all play out organically? Y'know, the excitement of not knowing what the future holds.

Oh I'm all for the excitement...i'm just saying the guy never fails to bring the goods when he calls. Plus, as much as I like Tom being punchy with the callers, its nice to hear him getting along and joking around with a caller.

I wouldn't worry. PFT still e-mails Tom during the show all the time. He's gonna have to plug something sooner or later.

Surely, we have no other choice?

i think PFT calls are great but i get in arguements with a couple of my friends who hate his calls. they say he and tom agree way to much and therefore kinda puts the breaks on the show. tom'll be going off on something and PFT will call and suddenly tom is happy and agreeable. personally i think he needs those breaks from "angry tom".

Agreed, but try to familiarize yourself with the good work of William Strunk. He and Sarah could no doubt make short work of even this humble post.
