Meat Puppets
« on: August 30, 2007, 12:52:49 AM »
Is anyone going to the Thursday (Aug. 30th) show at the Knitting Factory (the real one)? I haven't seen them in fifteen years, but I want to. I'll have to go after work and then drive home...somebody talk me into going.

 Right now.

The first Meat Puppets record is one of the greatest things ever comitted to tape.  You should go, just out of respect.
Now write me a receipt so I can tip on outta here...

Did you wind up going, Stan?  I had intended to go to at least one of those shows but have felt like utter garbage all week and bowed out.

No, I didn't get home from work until almost nine and was really beat. The next train was at 9:58, so I would have to rush to catch maybe the last hour. I am a lame old person of late.

Edited to add: Oh yeah, I hope you feel better, Christine.

You probably missed a good show.

I saw the Meat Puppets tonight at the Middle East in Cambridge (well, several generous chunks of the set when I wasn't on troll patrol at the entrance) and they were awesome. Just super tight, re-invigorated, rocked-out power trio brilliance. They went back and forth between full-on rock and the more countrified fare seamlessly. Their new drummer is a monster who also happens to look like Kevin Spacey, and the brothers were bouncing all over the place. "Lake of Fire" or whatever it is called was a particularly heavy encore standout. Like Sabbath/Bags heavy. Great, great stuff.
