I remember when I watched it I was thinking, "This STINKS!" I have yet to change my mind. Those kids (the characters, not the actors) were trying too hard to be cool/hip/"alternative." Sleeping in a tent in the middle of your garage? C'mon!
The only real Suburbia is the older one about the punks in Southern California, with the dogs and the nails in the walls, and raiding people's iceboxes for food.
And for my money, the most enjoyable movie about suburban living is still Over The Edge. Where's the Criterion version of that movie?
