I like that idea, Dave! That's kind of like when he reviewed our Netflix pages.

The premise of the Year of Living Biblically had me intrigued, but have you read the book itself? What a snooze.

Not yet... it's in my "read it at the end of the semester" stack... lousy law school. not good, then?

Now at the risk of alienating other Clashies, I never much liked Combat Rock, or most of Sandinista.

Sandinista has some tough stretches, to be sure, but I find that to more an effect of the quantity than the quality.  Might I humbly suggest revisiting Combat Rock, Dave?  I feel very deeply that "Know Your Rights" and "Straight to Hell" are two of the greatest things ever committed to tape.
Now write me a receipt so I can tip on outta here...

When I was a punk kid, I was a total snob. I mostly listened to CRASS and things of that ilk.

No shame in that game, either.

I actually like both of those. I hate Red Angel Dragnet, and all of side 2 is total snoozeville.

Tom,

I would like to hear your opinions on two "classic" albums that i personally don't understand why people think are so great.

Who's Next and London Calling

I think both are piles of crap speckled with a few good songs. Who's Next in particular.

I'd like to know if you agree or disagree. if you disagree I'm very interested in finding out from you why they are so great. so far no one can give me a better answer than "dude they're fucking classic man!"

You are dead to me.

I've been hearing that a lot lately.

you can honestly say that Jimmy Jazz is enjoyable to listen to? or Going Mobile? or Brand New Cadillac?

what am I missing?

alls I'm saying is that both The Who and the Clash have much better albums that no one seems to give a shit about and I don't understand why these ones seem to top every list.

I'm not trying to be snotty or crass, I would really like someone with a knowledge of music to weigh in with their honest opinion. I want to know why hordes of punks want me dead.

also that following songs are exempt from the explanation:
spanish bombs
guns of brixton
death or glory
won't get fooled again
behind blue eyes
baba o'reilly

I like these songs, them being good won't change my mind

You ought to check out the Onion's AV Club for the recent feature on LPs that would make better EPs. Hmmm, now that right there could be a good Blog topic, albeit borrowed.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Tom write about books, movies or music that changed his life.

That Bacon Bar is missing one element: peanut butter. Add that and I would be onboard.

If you're serious, Mike, may I recommend grilled peanut-butter-and-bacon sandwiches?

Yes, Sarah, I am serious. Like Elvis, I too am a fan of the peanut butter and bacon sandwich although I can't remember the last time I had one.

While I'm on the subject of food, I would like Tom to review an item from the supermarket that has caught his eye or something he's seen advertised that he's curious about. First on my list for him to review is that Oreo cookies pie from Dominos.

The bacon candy bar w/ peanut butter added would be pretty good. I've had the bacon candy bar and was actually pretty disappointed in it.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Let's just say I did you a favor and read it for the both of us. Seriously, though, if you really want to read it I'd be happy to send you my copy. No need to drop thirty bucks on it.
