I'm pretty sure you identify yourself when you give the gift. You just aren't supposed to know up until that point. That's the way I've always done it.

I mean really, are we supposed to go around wondering who gave us our present for the rest of our lives? That seems silly. We should be able to personally thank the gift giver!

Last year I identified myself; this year I didn't, but my Santee figured it out from the postmark (though he assures me he won't open the box till the day).

I say down with rules in any case:  identify yourself or not; wait till Christmas to open or not.

Went to a Northern Virginia USPS office today (slumming with my parents as I deal with a terrible situation) and was amazed to find that the cupboard was bare.  In and out in under 3 minutes.

Secret Santee* you'll have it Friday or Saturday.  So there.

I'm sorry to hear you're in Northern Virginia under less-than-ideal conditions, but I'm glad that you are able to enjoy our top-notch post offices. 
Might I also recommend our fine libraries and luxurious DMVs.

Secret Santa MUST be revealed when the gift is opened, otherwise James could send you something like a chili-burger, and except for the fact that it's a chili-burger, you would never know who the culprit was. I am sending a long letter with mine. Today. I promise. If I can get off of my death bed.
