1.  JJ, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Science diet, prescription diets, etc., all contain the same gunk as Ol' Roy.  I know Iams, at least, uses zoo kill.  Natura and some other pricey brands claim to use all human-grade ingredients in their foods, however.  Be all that as it may, as you know, my cats are already on homemade, and the dogs will be on it exclusively as soon as I finish up their extremely fancy--and wholesome--kibble (which I only bought to tide me over while Bandit and I were recovering, anyway).  I gave up on vaccinations a few years ago when my beloved Roger (dog) died as a result of them. 

2.  TL, my madder sister has read that book.  She said it was great, and I believe her, despite her lunacy.

3.  Re cats, hey, I love 'em, but if I had to choose one species over the other, I'd take dogs.  I don't know what it is about cats that makes people go on and on about them the way they do.  There are way more cute cat sites than cute dog sites, for example.  I don't get it.  Dogs are lovely, damn it!

I started out being into Ginger Spice, but quickly dropped her for Scary.  In the wanng years of their first go-around, I eventually developed a thing for Sporty.  Always hated Posh, though.  And Baby was, well, a baby.

I'm still aghast that Posh spice and David B. named their baby 'Brooklyn'. I mean, c'mon guys: don't use your kid's moniker as a feeble attempt to display some weird street cred.

the only shittier baby name I can think of is 'Gary'. I mean, who looks at a beautiful young infant and thinks "Yep, that's a Gary."

this only applies to babies named Gary. I guess teen-age and adult Garys are just fine.

I don't believe there is any kind of application or hazing period to become an FOT. I think you just wake up one morning and ARE one.

or maybe you officially are once you receive your membership card, and the period before that is probationary.

either way, tell AFK to rest assured, he's a FOT.

He should still record a 13 minute Dixie Dregs-style guitar wanksterpiece, entitled Theme for a GOMP IV (Hesh's Return), and send it to Tom.

I like the Michael Pollan book, and actually taught an excerpt from it in one of my Rutgers classes, but there is something a little problematic to me about that way of looking at environmentalism and a conscious diet, namely that there is no class-consciousness there.  Industrial fast food is horrible, but it's all that many people can afford (the $-poor tend to be time-poor as well).  The kind of diet that Pollan is endorsing is pretty bougie and NY Times-ish.

This is not to say that there aren't good ways to address this - I love NYC's Greenmarket program, and a lot of the food is just as available to working New Yorkers as it is to Manhattan restaurateurs.  And I seem to recall programs in enlightened West Coast cities to use organic and/or locally-sourced food for public school lunches.

Jesus, what am I doing!?  I have no time for this thread!  I'm supposed to be writing pages for 6pm tonight!

Speaking of theater:

I liked all of Tom's theater references in the last show, and sadly many of them are dead on.  Mediocrity rules everywhere, so theater should be no exception, but the easy-target, politically correct one-person show with the classic rock pre-show music is ubiquitous and evil and must be stopped.  And The Producers was, while not the worst thing I've seen on Broadway, completely overrated and nowhere near as funny as the 1968 movie.

Also: are any of the theater FOT interested in radio drama?  Forrest, Dorvid, Ughwhy?  If so, PM me, for reals.  I'm working on an audio project and need a fairly large rotating stable of collaborators.

Nothing too serious, just love to play. My main inspirations are Beatles,Stones,Who,Cream,Zeppelin,Allman Bros,Kinks,Zappa,Hendrix,Traffic,Mule,Bowie,Heads,Jeff Beck....Also into avante garde and blues. Wouldn't mind starting a classic rock cover band, or an experimental type band.
Pretty open to anything weather it be learning/playing songs, or just jamming.
