More YO LA TENGO

Not exactly Best Show-related, but WFMU related:

Do you have a computer?  If not, are you in listening range of 91.1 FM in
Jersey City, New Jersey or 90.1 FM in the Hudson Valley of New York State?
If you can answer yes to either of these questions, then you are in luck or
out of luck, depending on how you define the term.  On Tuesday, November
27, from 11 pm-2 am, Eastern Standard Time, I will be on the air, in the
air slot usually occupied by Small Change, playing records and chatting
about this and that.  You can listen live either on your radio or by going
to wfmu.org.

If this is the kind of message you would like to receive whenever I take to
the airwaves, please go to  http://www.yolatengo.com/wfmu.html and sign up
to receive updates on my WFMU whenabouts.  I will not be using this mailing
list again, only the new one.  Hope you listening.  Don't bother calling--I
won't be answering the phone!

Ira

Don't get me wrong, Small Change is awesome, but...yay!

Super! I now have something to keep me up till 2 a.m.

Can you play Decora or Sugarcube or Detouring America w/Horns for me?
That would be swell.

Any chance of getting tix for YLT @ Maxwell's?

bye ...

No way!  I was at WFMU a couple of weeks ago and there was a guy named Ira futzing around in Studio B, which is where people make audition tapes.  I thought, "is that Ira from Yo La Tengo?"  And looky here, it was!  I'll never wash these eyeballs again.

Speaking of Yo La Tengo, Dorian played their contribution to the I'm Not There soundtrack on last week's Speakeasy and it was awesome.  I find myself sort of wanting to see it even though I found Velvet Goldmine unwatchable.

PS: Martin, Susannah was just forwarding the email from Ira.  I'm sure she'd be happy to play those songs in her car or something but you wouldn't hear it.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I caught him filling in for someone else before and it wasn't bad. Looking forward to tonight.

Ira's fill-ins have been pretty good so far; except for the last one where he went on a half-hour rant about some guy who soaked his luggage on tour.

I enjoyed I'm Not There, but I'm a big Dylan fan. If you're not much of a Dylan fan, you may find it a bit confusing.

Chris, you listen to WFMU and you don't enjoy half-hour rants about things that only matter to the DJ?  That's part of the fun.

I'm what I guess you would call a lay Dylan-fan - as in, I have all of the major records and a few of the lesser ones and a copy of Chronicle that I've never read.  But I also don't mind confusing movies so maybe i will check it out.

I do enjoy that (depending on the dj), I just wanted to be a big shot with my "Soaker" reference  :'(

Chronicles is great!  Among other things (singing, dancing, playing guitar), Dylan is a fantastic music writer.

Whoops, went right over my head, and it's still floating around up there.  I may have been zung.

Ah, thanks, Samir.  I forgot all about the Poster Children debacle.

Susannah. Can you make this happen?
