he's in my Hate Pit where his job is to rinse off Shepard Fairey's silkscreens.

I know there has been more Shepard Fairy discussion in this thread, but I thought this was really funny and worth repeating.

You're talking, of course, about the fact the Harry will be performing nightly in the deepest darkest part of the Hate Pit?

Obama supporter here.

Gotta say, that "Yes, We Can" video is a spectacular bellyflop.  My wife and I were watching it just now for the first time, and my wife said she was expecting a baby to come out of a mother's stomach at the end of the video, look at the camera and say, "Yes...we....can."

I hope Obama gets elected, and his first action as president is to irrationally wage war on everyone, from Luxembourg to Bolivia. Why would I want that? For the sole reason that the people in that video would have to eat humble pie for decades to come. "Yes, we.....OH MY GOD HE'S INSANE!"

(I don't really want that)

I will be the first to shamefully admit that although I KNEW it was utter starf*cking emotional deception, a small, infantile part of me actually liked that awful awful AWFUL video.  And hated myself for it. It was almost liked watching a really well-produced piece of Nazi propaganda and thinking, huh, maybe I've been jumping to conclusions on this whole Third Reich thing.

But yes, I doubt that much would change if Obama were elected (even though I voted for him). I hope, but don't count on it. I think that's the worst part of the video, the fact that the best you can do to get excited about a candidate is to cross your fingers that the guy who is friends with the cast of Grey's Anatomy will only get us in two or three more wars.

I nominate Vince Gill. It's not that he made fun of Kanye during the Grammies, and it's not that he did it primarily as retaliation for some perceived slight on Kanye's part when he complained about losing Best New Artist to Gretchen Wilson, it's that he justified it with the phrase "us rednecks stick together". Creep. And throw this James Montgomery MTV writer down there while you're at it.

Really?  Look, I didn't watch the Grammies but for 1 solid minute, and it happened to be when Kanye was doing his acceptance grandstand, and I thought it was pathetic.  This guy's got the world on a string and he has to be a total dick about it as much as possible, like as if he's fighting for something that matters besides total integration into mass culture.  That's something that always drove me crazy about Nirvana too.  You can't have it both ways.  Either you play the game or you're too good for it and you don't show up.

This isn't about Kanye going bonkers on some crybaby ego trip (and he still has a long way to go before he gets to a Gene Simmons/Gallagher Brother caliber of obnoxiousness anyways), this is about a country musician invoking the phrase "us rednecks stick together" against him. It's... kinda uncomfortable.

I loved it. Highlight of the Grammys. And the award was a pleasant surprise, coming as it did at the expense of ass-hat shit-kicker commercial crap like Brad Paisley.
