This reminds me of a comment from another board I frequent in a thread titled "American chocolate - is really terrible!"  -

Quote
A co-worker has just got back from the "States" and come in with a bag full of really shite sweets.
Some malty choco calls called "Whopper", something called a butter finger, something called a musketeers.
All really bad.
jus tried some jelly looking, awful smelling thing called a "Twizlers" - Grammar is'n't very good in the USA either, as there was only one in the packet!
It's red and looks like it could be nice...on tasting however!!!!

Holy shite, what a shitty sweet selection from the country that bought us GBV.
Disapointed

In defense of my culture, I hate all of those brands too.

But I love GBV.

"My Cool Son" aka "My Son Cool" (depending on what part of the vinyl Alien Lanes package you are looking at) kills me and leaves me wanting more. It's that whole GBV get-in/kill-it-flawlessly/get-out-without-another-run-at-it frustration. But the high I get from it rivals the pure uncontrollable possession, both-fists-in-the-air, eyes-squeezing-and-tearing, goosebump thrill of "Over The Neptune/Mesh Gear Box" I always, ALWAYS get, but ultimately takes second billing to it in Tim K's All-Time GBV Faves due to its relative brevity. "DE-CIDE NOW..." (blap-um blap-um blap-um blugga-da crash). I mean, shit, I got chills just thinking about it.

I forgot about Over the Neptune/Mesh Gear Fox. Great choice. That also reminds me of Quality of Armor, which is another of their best fully-formed songs. And I just remembered a couple more 7" stragglers - Dusted (Fast Japanese Spin Cycle version) and Dusty Bushworms (from Get Out of My Stations).
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

I'm always partial to "Of Mites And Men", which is a hidden blowout glammy gem at the end of EARTHQUAKE GLUE. It's the perfect second half of the one-two punch that starts with "Secret Star".

And to the guy who doesn't like American chocolate, DON'T EAT IT. That just leaves more for me and my fellow type two diabetics!

Tom.

Is there any more EPIC song under two minutes than The Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory?  No, there is not.

An embryonic three minute version of this song, The Goldheart Festering Moon Directory, is like Pollard rocking this song out on electric guitar on a mountaintop for Zeus.

has anyone heard Capstan Shafts? i have 2 of his/their cdrs, and while i think it's really good stuff, it's just so totally ripping off mid-90s GBV, i feel like Bob and Tobin should sue for plagiarism.... but it's really good, so i shouldn't really complain.

I have a Capstan track lined up for the new recap, although I have yet to actually start writing said recap!  Ha!

I thought Capstan Jack was banned and would never be mentioned here again.
