Anyone see "I Am Legend"? What did u think?
« on: December 17, 2007, 05:56:31 PM »
I downloaded it illegally
because I'm just a rebel like that.

I thought it was good
ending was just a little shaky. It must be so hard to write the ending of films
that's where so many fall off...

Bonus: The creatures in I Am Legend are voiced by some rock dude; I'm not terribly familiar with his body of work.

ohhhhh
I'm having an "I get it" moment here

This girl on the other board was always going on about that guy
Then all the stuff on TBSoWfmu
I knew the name sounded familiar.

Couple of Faith No More songs stand out from my youth.
And I really like their cover of the Bee Gees "I started a Joke".

Never took the time to find out who was behind it all

I saw it and thought it was terrible, although maybe I was distracted.

I haven't been to a really popular, "blockbuster" movie like that in a long time, and it was maybe the worst movie experience I've ever had. I saw it last night at 10:05, so the place was pretty full. People were constantly getting out their cell phones and opening them so that the light was shining in the faces of everyone behind them. They weren't trying to be discreet about it, either - they were holding it right in front of their faces - and it happened every two or three minutes. People, you're not that important. Put the phones away for once in your fucking life, please. Free yourselves!

On top of that, there was a Mexican couple behind me who were having a conversation - in Spanish! - literally throughout the entire movie. I say that they're Mexican not because I'm racist, you understand; all I'm saying is, if you're going to talk through the whole movie (that you paid for), at least speak English so I can listen in. Is that too much to ask? On top of that, the male in the couple - who was sitting directly behind me - kept kicking my seat every couple of minutes. I turned around and gave him a look, but he still kept on. I had to get up and move to the seat next to mine right in the middle of the movie, which was pretty embarrassing. There was no kicking, but I still got to listen to them talk for another 45 minutes.

If I can help it, I'll never go to another nighttime showing of a popular movie ever again. I'll stick with my 12:50 p.m. showings of No Country For Old Men, thank you very much.

Since it seems like 90% of my posts are about a page and a half in length, I'll wrap it up and save my comments on the movie itself for another time. All I'll say right now is this - stop with the CGI already. We get it. The technology ain't there yet, friend.
It ain't ego, it's my love for you.

Whew
at least it wasn't a certain other minority that gets blamed for talking during movies all the time
(yay us)

I'm spoiled by the internet I can't imagine being out there with all that teeming humanity.

Go ahead talk about the movie.

I listened to the BBC Radio production of it. Since it actually follows the book.

I actually liked Will Smith's performance in this movie. (!)

But seriously, enough with the cgi stuff where it's not needed. The infected survivors would have been 100x creepier if they where played by actual humans that displayed some remnants of actual humanity, as opposed to cartoonish high polygon models modified from the Mummy movies.

I thought it was really awful.

some of the worst CGI I've seen in years.

also, what's so good about Will Smith's performance? That amazing, heart wrenching scene where he works up the courage to talk to a mannequin he has a crush on? His ability to quote Shrek for what seemed like a half an hour?

I really can't think of anything I liked about it.

Doesn't it have a trailer of the Dark Knight at the start? I'd see it for that. Well, if I had a free ticket.

Nice dog(s).

Also, I wonder how much they paid Emma Thompson for her cameo?

I didn't hate it
those were the three or four times he had to "ACT"

1. talk to mannequin
2. Shrek quote
3. choke dog
4. go out in blaze of glory

Hey, he's no Tom Hanks
but he's working on it
he has come a long way baby

I liked it. I didn't think it was earth-shattering, or even great, but it was pretty good.

And grateful I am for that.  I think Tom Hanks is an atrocious actor.
