Dr. Dirty Cruise
« on: January 13, 2008, 02:10:40 PM »
This is my first post, but I was listening to the archives and was reminded of the Dr. Dirty discussion with Paul F. Tompkins. I decided to see if he had a website and discovered (to my horror) that Dr. Dirty is planning his first Caribbean cruise (with the good people at Carnival Cruise Lines) for later this year. Prices start at just $799 for the Interior Stateroom, but for just $1199, you can upgrade that ticket to an unlimited 'open bar'. And for the REAL fans, you can get a spacious VIP suite that includes 'open bar' privileges for only $1499. No word on whether the VIP package means that you'll get to get to see "behind the scenes" and spend time with the man himself, but apparently, you WILL get to attend a private dinner where he will be in attendance. For the Joe Schmoes, he will be available on a "private internet chat group" where you can converse with the man himself as well as other fans on the ship.

But there are plenty of other activities available, like a casino, gourmet restaurant, a whopping $1000 in prize giveaways and a wet t-shirt contest with a top prize of $500. And thanks to a deal offered by Carnival, unlimited alcoholic beverages. If you can think of a better experience than 7 days with a boat full of extremely drunk Dr. Dirty fans, I'd like to hear it. Hurry up and get your tickets now, because it departs from Miami in May and according to the site, you should book now to avoid price increases.

I really would rather not link to his actual site or even type it here. Suffice it to say that Dr. Dirty didn't hop onto the web bandwagon early enough to grab drdirty dot com, but he did manage to snag drdirtycruise dot com. I highly recommend the read.

(spits diet coke out onto desk)

High-larious.  The Doc was big at Rutgers in the '80s (as, I'd imagine, many state college campuses).  I never went to see one of his frequent appearances; I'm just picturing what a week with unlimited booze and no possible means of escape would be like.  I'd rather go on the Carrot Top Cruise.  Almost.

The unlimited booze is only for the two Dr Dirty shows you get to attend, for any drink up to $7.50. You're paying an extra $350 for that.
I would seriously go if I was rich, just so I could tell everybody about it.
