Predictions for two mid-level sci-fi shows
« on: February 23, 2008, 03:35:52 AM »
* Terminator:  Sarah Connor Chronicles

The reason the girl robot kept the brain chip of the other robot is that smart future John Connor told her to.  He realizes that preventing AI from being developed is futile, and her secret mission is to ensure that the AI that gets developed preempts and can stop Skynet.  This is an awesome show.

* Jericho

Ok, I only watched the first episode of this season (and I only saw a few of last season's) and I do not intend to watch any more, because it is a lame show.  But the Cheyenne government and/or that corporation they work with planned the attacks.  The remnant government in St Louis or Ohio or wherever is good guys.

* Torchwood.

In the 2nd series, as in the first, every single character will get busy with someone of the same sex.

and then get all crazy and emotional about it.
and then get shot.

I try to love that show, I do, but it is a poor Dr. Who substitute.

Okay, you're missing the point on Torchwood. Boys! Making out! Who cares about the plot? James Marsters* from Buffy making out with Jack! A Welsh guy making out with Jack! A really good looking guy making out with Jack!

Faux-lesbo Sweeps Week kissing is boring. Boys making out will never ever get old.

*I had an embarrassing crush on him when I was a teenager. Srsly. Of course, Marti Noxon ruined it, but goddamn it he was good looking.

. . . This is an awesome show.

And almost certainly not coming back.  I'm sad.  Much to my surprise, it became one of my favorites.

I actually stopped watching it at the beginning of season two; it seemed to lose its way.

Will watching the remaining episodes just leave me hanging?

I thought it improved with time, though it was always madly uneven, of course.  I didn't care for the love interests introduced--one of the things I enjoyed about this show was its determined asexuality--but I liked the Catherine Weaver/Ellison/John-Henry stuff (which you may know nothing about, I realize, if you stopped watching early in the season).

If it's done, yes, you will indeed be left hanging.  The season (series?) finale ends with more than one big switcheroo.  Worth it, though, in my opinion.
