This reminded me a bit of that scene in the original
Carnival of Souls (and perhaps in the remake as well, but I've blotted that out) when the heroine is wandering around in a department store where everyone but the bad guy is frozen. This is less creepy, of course, but it would still give one a jolt if one happened on it.
