Hi folks,
I mentioned this last week on the chat, but feel a need to flush out the guilt more publically.
On the Christmas show, Mr Leo sang a song about a donkey, initially made famous by Ed Ames. This song evidently has some significance for Ted's family. I seem to recall that it would bring tears to his father's eyes.
I was excited, because completely by coincidence, friends had approached me and asked me not 3 weeks earlier to convert their old Ed Ames christmas vinyl to CD format, so that they might relive fond memories of hearing it during childhood holiday seasons. That album contained a song called "Little White Donkey."
I contacted Mr Leo's people and offered to send him a copy of this song via the wonder of the internets.
How was I to know that Ed Ames had actually recorded TWO Christmas donkey songs? And that I had sent Mr Leo the wrong one?
Gentleman that he is, he has never mentioned this. But I fear that should I ever meet him in person, he will thrash me to within an inch of my life, if not further.
My sincere apologies to you and your family, Mr Leo. Someday I will find a way to make it up to you.
Your friend and fan,
dave
