My guess is just that they have a lot of paper work from the marathon and a fairly small staff to manage it. Your check will probably be cashed soon, but you can always contact them directly to see if there are any problems.

I've been volunteering to help with the premium mailings, and I think they're making good time copying all of the CDs and artwork and stuff, as compared to previous years.  I think Emily's right, too - there was one very nice guy there busily processing check after check and doing some sort of mysterious paperwork to keep everything in order.  So I really have no answer to your question, but I can tell you that a very few people are working pretty hard to catch up with a mountain of work.
