A way to possibly freak yourself out and worry over nothing
« on: April 08, 2008, 04:46:13 PM »
I took an Asperger's Syndrome test today and found out I have 3 syndromes I didn't even know about.
http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

Tests on the internet are all pretty ridiculous. My mom has a ton of diagnosed mental issues and can spend days finding out about new syndromes and then freaking out about it only to be told that it's either nothing or be prescribed things depending on how meek the doctor is. So even though I know how fishy and suspect this whole realm is, I am still pretty freaked out about it.

Yeah, I know my father and I have something that sounds a bit like Asperger's.
I've always been to chicken-s hit to find out for sure.

No kidding. Its insanely long and with questions like those I generally have a hard time deciding whats true since how I'd react to something would depend on my mood.

Do you notice sounds that others dont? Sometimes, but its hard to know whether I do more than others. Its too easy to overthink that shit.

Dorvid, take the test so I can have solidarity.

No Aspereger's for me but I may be able to be diagnosed for OCD and social phobias at 87 and 75 respectively. But, I didn't know how to answer on a lot of the romantic relationship questions because I've been with my wife for around 10 years and I don't know how I'd feel about those situations now. I know how I handled them 9-10 years ago: Poorly. I'd like to think my confidence has changed but I guess I wouldn't know.

Your neurodiversity (Aspie) score: 89 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 114 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie (neurodiversity) and neurotypical traits

Diagnostic prediction for    Score    Prediction
OCD    111    You will probably be able to receive the diagnosis
Social phobia    102    You will probably be able to receive the diagnosis
Asperger/HFA/PDD    82    This isn't a primary diagnosis you should seek
ADD/ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder)    41    This isn't a primary diagnosis you should seek

Sounds about right to me.

Apparently I'm a liar.
You have answered inconsistently on too many control-questions
Breakfast- I'm havin' a time
Wheelies- I'm havin' a time
Headlocks- I'm havin' a time
Drunk Tank- not so much a time
George St.- I'm havin' a time
Brenda- I'm havin' a time
Bingo- I'm havin' a time
House Arrest- I'm still havin' a time

I'm not sure what to think about that particular test, or online tests in general.  For what it's worth, I work as a play therapist for children on the Autism spectrum and recognize most of the  characteristics listed.
If you suspect you may be on the spectrum, knowing it and recognizing it can be beneficial.

Time to start a band called "Neurotypicals"

I am "very likely to receive the diagnosis" for three of the four disorders listed. My social phobia diagnosis "is very likely correct." I actually have been diagnosed as a socially phobic, so... Yay?

So what if I have rampant ADD/ADHD(133), Social Phobia(110), and echolalia that may be a symptom of mild autism?
It all helps me kick ass on Facebook!

Took the same test again when I wasn't feeling shitty about myself and my results were super-different

Your neurodiversity (Aspie) score: 74 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 136 of 200
You are very likely neurotypical

thats compared to 120 Aspie and 89 neurotypical before.
Now I'm confused and I've spent at least an hour taking this stupid test.
