Cold Streak:  The Grandfather Clock.

Definitely looking for the grandfather clock to be making a comeback soon, along with the machine that goes "ping".

Nick Lowe, 1972-1980: The last four Brinsley Schwarz albums (Nervous on the Road, Silver Pistol, Please Don't Ever Change, New Favourites of Brinsley Schwarz), the Tartan Horde single, Jesus of Cool/Pure Pop for Now People, Labour of Lust and the Rockpile album (Seconds of Pleasure). Also, producing the early Graham Parker albums, the Damned's first record and the Pretenders' first single, not to mention Elvis Costello's first five albums.

Hot streaks don't get no hotter than that.

OK, but where's his cold streak? I saw him recently in Nashville, and he was wonderfully entertaining, and a lovely gracious guy to boot.

How about BOC? The first 4 albums were like houses on fire (especially Secret Treaties and Agents of Fortune), and Spectres had a couple of mighty fine moments, but with the exception of isolated cuts (Heavy Metal: Black and Silver, anyone?), it's been frigid since about 1978. Doesn't stop them from appearing at sledloads of county fairs, though.

Man, artificial sweeteners are on a hot streak. I hate this crap. If I see soda and it says "50% less sugar" I expect 50% less sugar and not 50% more chemicals.

Gross.

Public Enemy

Some could argue that Flavor Flav's hot streak is finally here. After being an idiot he has become a full-tilt moron and has a third season of a TV show because of it.

If Chuck didn't have Flav around to act as his Rosencrantz/Guildenstern, then P.E. wouldn't have gotten anywhere.  P.E. would have been considered too serious.  Flavor Flav made them a lot harder to categorize, and therefore more interesting.  Yeah, he's a moron, but it was perfect for P.E. at the time.

Exactly...  more than a few of my friends were drawn in by PE not because of Chuck's lyrics but because of the crazy guy with the clock around his neck saying "Yeah... booyyyyeeee!"

3 very solid and interesting solo records - plus tons of great singles from the 8 million different bands he puts together
j mascis and the fog
hellride
'lil pit

the stooges (even though the mix on "the weirdness" stinks and you can't hear the bass)

Mike Watt is awesome.  But when did he play with Porno for Pyros?
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I don't know if it counts as to the hot streak but I've always loved Watt's web site.  So comprehensive -- here are some songs.  Here's what Mike says about the latest show in Australia.  Here's what Mike had for lunch.  When he was really sick a few years ago he was posting pictures of the abscesses in his stomach(?).

He's like no other.

plays the bass on the title track from "good god's urge" and (i think) one more tune on that album. also did live bass duties on the tour for that record. perry had him wearing some type of furry mouse suit. it's all here: http://hootpage.com/hoot_pfp.html

the website - "mike watt's hootpage" - is the greatest. i never saw those pics (i can imagine though!) - but the abscesses and subsequent infection that almost killed him a few years back was actually in his perineum. i believe "taint" is the more commonly used english slang for that region. gross..

I was also digging his podcast (The Watt From Pedro Show) for a while.  Is he still doing that?

Yes.
