First Concert (don't judge)
« on: April 21, 2008, 12:29:29 PM »
I was 14 and my friend's parents took us to go see Meat Loaf.

I didn't know much about him at the time, and afterwards didn't feel like I ever needed to hear his music again. It was scary bad. But it was my first concert nontheless...

The first concert I chose to go to was PJ Harvey, Elastica and Live at Merriweather Post Pavillion.

Couldn't remember which was first, Les Claypool's first side project or the Tibetan Freedom Concert with Tribe Called Quest, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Biz Markie, Cibo Matto and the Beastie Boys.

When I was in grade seven, I paid $50 to see Blink-182 play the Molson Amphitheatre.

Now that you all know this, I can never look any of you in the eye!

I didn't go to a concert until after high school.  I think it was the Queers.

Rolling Stones with Living Colour opening in 1989 on the Steel Wheels tour at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati, OH.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Queensryche  - they opened with the big hits off of Empire and then did all of Operation Mindcrime
It was pretty awesome, or at least was when I was 14.

My first concert was Joan Jett, Loverboy and Quiet Riot at the fairgrounds when I was in grade school, with my dad.  I don't remember much about it other than I left hating Loverboy and bought what I think was my first cassette (Quiet Riot's Mental Health) the next day.  Joan Jett apparently had no effect on me.

Wait, that's totally not true.  I saw some crappy industrial band at the Limelight when I was 16.  I went to go see Aphex Twin but the lamewads that I went with wanted to leave before he came on.  I think he ended up DJing sandpaper or something.

Bob Dylan in 2001, when he was still kinda worth seeing. The man was a dancing fool that night!

And, because I think setlists are fun:

Oh Babe It Ain't No Lie
Mr. Tambourine Man
Desolation Row
Absolutely Sweet Marie
She Belongs to Me
Tombstone Blues
Masters of War
Visions of Johanna
Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
'Til I Fell in Love With You
Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine
Make You Feel My Love
Drifter's Escape
Rainy Day Women #12 and 35

ENCORE
Love Sick
Like a Rolling Stone
Knockin' on Heaven's Door
All Along the Watchtower
Blowin' in the Wind
It ain't ego, it's my love for you.

My first concert was probably Christian recording artist Carmen when I was a small kid.  I also remember my mom taking our family to see Billy Ray Cyrus for free on the Fourth of July.

My first concert I chose to go to, besides small punk shows, was probably Lollapalooza 1996.  The Ramones played that year.
