I can't remember which was first, but it was either The Moody Blues with my mom or The Band with my dad, both at Buffalo's dearly departed Melody Fair theatre with its awesome rotating stage.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

Squeeze with The Silencers opening.  Merriville, IN, probably 1987-88.  7th grade.  It helped having an older brother in college.

When I was little, my parents took my brother and I along with them to see Neil Young & Crazy Horse. Unfortunately, like August at Yo La Tengo, we both fell asleep.

The first concert I went to on my own was Built To Spill.

My first concert was also Pulp!  June 1998 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with Bran Van 3000 opening.  I was fourteen.  My eighteen-year-old brother took me and bought me a pint at a bar called the Blarney Stone before the show.  I still can't believe they served us.

First concert ever (age eight):  either Phil Ochs or the New Lost City Ramblers.

First concert on my own (age fifteen):  either New Riders of the Purple Sage or Hot Tuna, in the gym at SUNY New Paltz.

It's funny, there are about 20 separately owned Blarney Stones in Manhattan and all of them will serve anyone.   I think every concertgoing New Jersey kid finds this out eventually.

My first: Gang Green and Slap Shot, City Gardens, fall 1986.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Talk about a band I hadn't thought about since 1998. Blast from the past!

The Replacements!  Still kind of proud of that one, actually.

i went to a lot of local shows in junior/high school, but my first trek to national acts was (gulp) THIRD EYE BLIND (Blue album tour) at Austin Music Hall.  Tonic opened for them- blegh!!

i enjoyed myself, but had more fun roaming the streets and getting drunk with trannies.  also the first time i had a mixed liquor/soda (disguised in a taco cabana cup).

I went to a lot of shows with my church youth group so I don't even remember. My first non church related show or kids event was probably Third Eye Blind too but on their first tour. I still consider their self-titled a guilty pleasure. But, the show wasn't very good since it was at the State Fair.

One of these years, I am going to spend the money and go see somebody play at the Xcel Energy Center. I haven't ever seen a mainstream act in an arena because all the shows I want to see are usually at First. Ave or the Entry and I can't justify paying 50-60 dollars extra to see a band I really don't care that much about just to experience a concert there. But, I've heard it's a great place to see a show so hopefully somebody plays there that I'd want to see.

Pink Floyd during the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour.  The couple behind us dropped acid and literally did not move for the 3 hour show.  If they hadn't been standing, I'd have assumed they were dead.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!
