It was supposed to be Black Sabbath, in 1970 or 1971, but Ozzy didn't show up, so we got a double dose of Black Oak Arkansas.

Kriss Kross: I think I was 8? I don't know.

Lollapalooza: I was 11. I went with my brother and my mom. I got a contact high for the first but not the last time. Billy Joe of Green Day came out and whined about how whatshisface got hurt at Woodstock '94 or some shit. They did not play a song. My brother was sad. I wanted to stay for the Smashing Pumpkins because I had an embarrassing crush on Billy Corgan. It was not to be.  :'(

Soundgarden: Same year as Lollapalooza, I think. I went with my brother and his friend Luis.

The Cramps: Big Beat from Badsville tour at the Cameo. I was 13, I think. I usually lie and say this was my first concert.

The Kinks in 1983, with the Romantics.

Then Bruce Springsteen and REM in 1985. Black Flag in 1986.

First concert ever (age eight):  either Phil Ochs or the New Lost City Ramblers.

Wow. I would have loved to see the New Lost City Ramblers. My first concert was Phish. My mom wanted to know why the drummer was wearing a dress. I didn't have an answer.

Yeah, I liked them a lot better than the Modern Jazz Quartet, which I saw not long after.  But I loved Phil Ochs the best.

My older sister took me to see Journey when I was in sixth grade.  I had to ask the usher for ear plugs because I thought it was too loud.   :'(

So how many times did they play Jim Dandy and then smash a washboard Dave.

First concert I actually got depressed about because I couldn't go:

Pink Floyd - Division Bell tour.

My dad just wasn't up for taking me and I was only like 14. Boooooo. How can you raise me listening to Pink Floyd and then not take me to my first show?? I HATE YOU DAD!!!!!!

Besides local legends NIL8, my first big show was at the state fairgrounds on a dirt ring mostly reserved for horse shows.  It was The Offspring with The Vandals and Lunachicks. I usually omit the Offspring when talking about it.

Wait, does "Weird" Al count? I think I saw him when I was very young. I also might have seen the Beach Boys on the Kokomo tour (at the aforementioned fairgrounds), but obviously that was not so memorable.

Beach Boys at the Gorge in 1992 was the first large-scale concert. If you count county fairs, then it might be Paul Revere and the Raiders.
