Just wait till you're a rapist.  I mean, from what you've said, your lips are at least part honky.

I think I already miss being a Friend of Tom.
Fresh fruit enriches everyone.  Takes the thirst out of everyday time.  A pure whiff of oxygen, painting over a monochrome world in primary colors.  We all know that.  It's why everyone loves fruit.

So who's going? I'll be working a booth, and want to know what FOTs to keep an eye out for.

I'll be there all three days. I'm thinking Sat. will be the perfect day for sporting my Scar-Face.

Me, though I have no idea how caught up I'm gonna be in various staff get-togethers.

I love the stuff they're doing Friday night, where Sebadoh/Public Enemy/Mission of Burma are going to play entire records straight through. Did they do that in previous years?

yeah... sonic youth played daydream nation in its entirety last year. i can't remember the other bands.

GZA did Liquid Swords, and I think Slint did Spiderland. Not that I saw any of them.

(Muddled grumbling about being in the Upper Peninsula with an unreliable car.)

Slint was GREAT despite the fact that it's odd seeing such music being played in the early evening while the sun is still in the sky.  They were one of my favorite bands back in the day but I don't remember ever enjoying their early days shows half as much as I enjoyed the Pitchfork show.  Perhaps they really have developed as artists.

I just flew in from Boston and am at my girlfriend's parents' house in what I like to call "Chicago-Land".  In addition to trying to subjecting her to all this weird music this weekend, I'm nerding out and micro-blogging the festival on my Twitter feed.

I just got back from tonight's show.  No surprise that the Hold Steady took today's belt in a walk.  Would any FOTs in Chicago for the show tomorrow (or who live here all the time, of course) want to get together for a lunch beforehand?  You know, preferably somewhere near my place?  (Which is not toooo far from the festival grounds).

I have yet to ever catch the Hold Steady live.  Probably saw Lifter Puller play a dozen times, however.

Hold Steady absolutely knocked it out of the park tonight. My favorite of the festival so far.

So I was standing outside of the front gate around 12:30 trying to sell the extra ticket I had since my friend flaked on me and I couldn't figure out why people would dismiss me before I could even ask if they needed an extra. Then I looked down and realized I was wearing my Scar-Face shirt and not my ironic outfit, making me blend in with the professional scalpers.  To make things worse, I was snickered at several times without a single person understanding it. Oh uber-indie kids  ::)

Jay Reatard killed it. The Hold Steady were also very good, reminding me I need to give their new album another listen. Jarvis was pretty damn funny as well.
