A question about sneakers
« on: June 05, 2008, 03:58:00 PM »
Is "DC" a respectable brand of skate shoes?

Like, is it up there with Puma and Adidas? Cuz I'm looking for quality.

I know some of you ladies and gentlemen must be into shoes.... help me out here.

No. Just cool shoes.

Also, if anyone has any ideas (other than ebay) as to where I can find a pair of special edition Baltimore Nike Air Force 1's, that would be cool.

It's a present for someone who has a thing for fancy sneakers. No skating or actual sports involved.

Onitsuka Tiger shoes are considered pretty awesome.

I recently bought a nice pair of Penguins, creamy white with checkered details. I usually go with Adidas though.

I am probably going to buy these. I love my chucks -- they're covered in fake blood, real blood (not mine), coffee, and probably raw sewage, but they're pretty busted open. It's time for new shoes!

I think I'm loving those Iron Maiden Vans.

Never heard of Penguins til just now, and this was the Google Image search result:

Sweet Christmas, is this what kids in the streets are wearing these days?

I'm a huge fan of Top Siders (or any generic brand of them). You can pull them off with out looking like a d-bag and they are extremely comfortable in the summer. I hate wearing sandals, Top Siders are 100X better.

I had a pair of DC's 5-6 years ago and I didn't like them too much, they weren't that comfortable.

Nah, don't get sneakers.  I'd recommend these...

...or any other kind of footwear that Nancy Sinatra might wear.

Are they comfortable? I was just looking at a pair at the Penguin store yesterday (like these, but better design: http://www.penguinclothing.com/71-0148-2-penguin.html) and they didn't seem like they'd be comfortable.

Sorry to hijack, Erika. Re: DCs, my son used to like them but now they're not as cool among the elementary school set, in case that helps you at all.

Yeah, solid comfort. They don't list the ones I got, but these come pretty close.

Erika, DC's are for little kids and mall punks.

If you are interested in a brand skate ot shoe that is legit amongst skaters, I'd recommend Lakai.
