What do Best Show characters look like in your mind?
« on: November 01, 2006, 11:54:01 PM »
This is another fun question I was thinking about that I don't think has been discussed yet. Hopefully it is acceptable. I always do this with books. How do you imagine all the characters/real people look? NOTE: Apologies for my slightly caricatured perceptions of officer tom and petey. I had conceived of my images of them months ago, before I found out they were real people. Consider them romanticized tributes.

I googled Philly Boy Roy early on in my fanhood and this image stuck with me. He wears a self-satisfied smile much of the time he talks, sometimes morphing into confusion and offended anger.

Roy Jr. is a chubby, shady looking kid wearing baggy basketball shorts, high-top sneakers with high white socks and a Philly sports team t-shirt.

Rhoda:

Petey is quite tall and thin with short brown hair, a prominent nose, and a protruding adam's apple....constantly fidgeting as he talks to Tom (how close am I???).

Spike is an unholy union between South Park's Mr. Slave and Droopy dog, except not animated and for some reason with glasses.

Steinberg has black-rimmed glasses and curly brown hair with carefully trimmed sideburns.

Bryce has shaggy brown hair and big, dark sunglasses, with a hooded sweater on. The glasses come off when he gets angry.

Officer Tom has big aviator sunglasses and a crew cut, always with a police uniform on. I've since seen his picture but my images can't change once they've been embedded.

Purple shirt is a normal looking guy with a purple shirt on.

Marky Ramone is average build, with shoulder-length black hair and a leather jacket. He is sitting in a large recliner in a darkened room. He perpetually has this expression on his face when listening to Tom:

Corey Harris is rather skinny with brown hair, no facial hair. He wears black wrist bands and tight, pre-faded jeans with holes in the knees.

Trent L. Strauss wears a black beret and a gray turtleneck with a beige vest over it.

Werner looks like a young Werner Herzog (sorry Rutger) with a dirty blonde mullet and a black goatee.

Skag Winesack:

Depressed office worker looks kind of like Judd Apatow with messier hair, a full beard, and a white dress shirt (untucked) and bloodshot, tired eyes, sitting in an office chair behind his desk.

Tom's 'Daddy' is really sleazy, rather skinny, with short brown hair. Always with an arrogant, smirky look on his face. Wearing a plaid shirt tucked into Khaki pants, high-waters with 'boat shoes' on.

Troy Dershman is actually skinny (all wurster's characters are), not particularly muscular. He has a very angry, impatient look on his face. He wears football cleats and high socks, rolled down a little. He wears a homemade tank-top (t-shirt with sleeves cut off).

Timmy von Trimble is indeed his described size talking into a phone that's been laid on the floor.

And the immortal Captain Jack is skinny and kind of weasly, with buzz-cut blonde hair. Not unlike The Real World's 'Puck':

Now the fun part is how our interpretations vary, i'd love to hear everyone reply....including Tom! Plus I'm sure there's some regulars I forgot/haven't heard yet. Again, I hope I didn't step on anybody's toes with this one. I just thought it'd be fun.

I think you pretty much hit Skag Winesack right on the nail. Even his background fits perfectly with my perception of him. I always picture him calling from the inside of his darkened houseboat, with the dusk leaking through the venetian blinds.

spot-on! just like i had imagined.

the mention of timmy von trimble automatically reminds me of the cute but evil nibbler:

this is my image of bryce-

while he's not smiling, he is nervously biting on his fingernails.

That is pretty close for me, the little dot above my head is really there too, makes it hard to wear a hat.
