Richard Dawkins on Twitter

This made me laugh -

It's apparently really him. And his 'tweets' are as banal as anyone's.

Ugh.  Awful.  Only funny people should use Twitter.  Notice that I'm not on it.

I thought this was Richard Dawson.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Oy. Judging from his recent contributions, I'm not sure if Twitter's his best medium.

It looks like someone stole his password.  (Seriously, the posts are by someone criticizing "RD".)

I guess the idea was to rope people in by posting dull stuff, and then turn it into a soapbox.

Why do people insist that you have to respect goofy "beliefs?"  You have to respect people, including people that belief goofy things.  You don't have to respect the belief itself.  What does that even mean?  If you're a Christian, for instance, how could you possibly "respect" a belief (in, say, reincarnation) that you are 100% certain is wrong?  Being polite and civilized is how you respect people.

(not that you should listen to me about being respectful)

Likewise, it's tricky to respect a bearded, wish-granting, cloud-dwelling ghost if you don't believe in him.

Quotes like that is why atheists get the "asshole" metatag.

It's not the not-believing, it's the smug, self-righteous condescension.

Iffins I meets me an atheist who isn't smug, self-righteous, and condescending, I will eat my shoe, in honor of smug, self-righteous, and condescending atheist Errol Morris and his nemesis Warner Hurtsodd.
