TBSOWFMU on Wikipedia
« on: June 30, 2008, 07:58:05 PM »
How come there isn't a Wikipedia article on TBS?  I always look there to see what it says about the show and then I realize there isn't an article.  I know there is the FOTpedia, but I think someone should do one on Wikipedia.

I think you might need one of those internet connections to do that.

i think Petey tried to create one but it got deleted because apparently the show wasn't noteworthy enough or something.

however, that doesn't stop there being articles for Tom Scharpling, Jon Wurster, Scharpling & Wurster, and Stereolaffs.

in fact, at one point, there were TWO S&W articles (i think one with "&" and one with "and") that i guess got merged because someone noticed they were both there.

the only reason 7SD has an article is because of the new york times thing from last year.

That's correct about the petey thing.  Some wisenheimer argued that it was too POV and that it should be part of the WFMU entry.  I would imagine if somebody did it again it could probably stick.

To get past the deletionists on Wikipedia nowadays, you need some media mentions.  The NY Times article on the Best Show, coupled with blog mentions and a list of some of the famous people who've been on it (PFT, Tim and Eric, Patton, Gaffigan, Gib Benson, etc) should be enough.  Go fer it.

Geeze, how many fake...er, honorary doctorates does one need?
Billy Joel has six but someone has to have more if he has six.

It is pretty insane that they removed the Best Show page.  It seems like a lot of regional and local TV and radio shows have pages on wikipedia.

Take a look at the greatest wikipedia page of all time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi_Chi%27s

For a while there was a Wikipedia page that listed every single episode of the Colbert Report, complete with the introductory phrase, guest, topics, etc... I'm surprised it didn't list what color tie he was wearing. Certainly the entirety of the Best Show is more encyclopedia-worthy than that.

Clearly.  It just doesn't make sense when dinky horrorshows warrant interspace.
