Big Shot: Billy Joel Tribute at Woodbridge High
« on: July 11, 2008, 12:11:14 PM »

It's in Woodbridge - who's goin'?

Here's the flyer.
The other shows in the series look great, too - Lou Christie?  "Lightning Strikes?"  I wonder if he can still the notes??!?!?
The Duprees?
The Infernos?
("Rocksplosion" sounds frightening, though.)
Now write me a receipt so I can tip on outta here...

Yesterday, I was working hard to embarrass someone by trying to get him to sing "For The Longest Time" with me in acapella on the subway.

What the hell is a "Planotone?" That is a mush-mouthed word that is doesn't know is it wants to be planets, plantains, or ska. Only the hippest guidance councilor, Kenny "Call Me Kenny" Vance knows for sure.

The Planotones are actually Plano, Texas's premier soul-fusion combo.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

I was in a car with someone last weekend and "For The Longest Time" was on the radio. She started to explain why, but I had already thrown open the door and done a tuck and roll onto the highway.

But still, I would totally sing that on the subway.
This may be the year I will disappear.

Me too.  Life is too short, you might as well act as stupid as you can.

Wow, that is one of the worst flyers I have ever seen in my life.  I actually just saved it on my hard drive for that reason. The crimes are almost too numerous to adequately address. Stretching and distorting graphics and type to fill/fit the space available, leaving practically no white space, using different fonts for practically every space on the poster, using Comic Sans, incorporating graphic elements for no apparent reason whatsoever.  I could go on, but that's plenty.

It really is amazing, isn't it?
The content itself is incredible, too - the winner of Woodbridge Idol, sponsored by Sansone's Auto Mall and ShopRite, etc.

I'd love to see/hear details about Newbridge's summer concert series (if the Mayoreubenatorial race hasn't scuttled the planning).

Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime is pretty much every other show at Toad's Place.

Does sublime really need a tribute band?
Not to seem insensitive, but are there better bands out there deserving tribute... maybe Bad Company?

A promoter friend of mine in Providence tells me that Bad Fish draws twice as many people as the band consisting of all the actual members of Sublime except the guy who died (I can't remember their name).

Why must you make fun? That's like the first competition I've ever won in my life.

The real reason for emma's presence in the NY/NJ area is finally revealed.
