Is it odd that I like Micheal K's calls?

I like that he said "Local Record Shoppe".

"The drone makes the man." (Jeff Feuerzeig).

My drone is also by Spacemen 3: "Suicide" on "Spacemen are GO!" What's YOUR drone?

The one call where he talked about Presence was pretty interesting.

I heard from the interview with Jeff onwards. I loved AP Mike Day. Jon's call was great -- I think it was heavily influenced by Dancin' On Air, which was this Philly-area teen dance show which "starred" the worst people of the 80s (and a young Kelly Rippa). It was syndicated up to New York and then it got launched nationwide on the fledgling USA Network and was rechristened Club USA Dance Party. I was pretty obsessed with this show as a kid. They had a retrospective on WB17 in Philly over the summer and it was surreal. There were no less than six Hooters appearances they showed. Almost none of the "stars" of thse show aged well, save for Kelly Rippa, who did not make an appearance.

Worst: Mit Hamime or whatever their dumb name is. Dark Greggulator is started to get enraged...

Uh, it was Dance Party USA, you munch.   ;)

That's an awesome connection, though. I had no clue.  I've blocked almost all of early USA from my mind, save Colliope and Cartoon Express.
If I tried, I could probably make at least six figures for shaking my moneymaker.

Anyone remember Radio 1990 or Night Flight?

Of course!  I saw Another State Of Mind for the first time on Night Flight as well as music videos by Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Sonic Youth, Butthole Surfers, BLAST, and many more.  Very influential on a young Hugboy.

Wow, don't remember Night Flight or Radio 1990.  I was too young.  I'm more of an "Up All Night"  to "Silk Stalkings" and "Pacific Blue"-era USA Fan

I swear I remember watching a Night Flight in the 80s that had the Plasmatics and William Burroughs and Kenneth Anger.  What an awesome show.

Great show!

I like Michael Kay's calls, they're usually weird, but what I enjoy the most is that he doesn't seem to cheaply hype up The Cynics. Tom usually has to prod him for recording updates or tour-stops. Rare and cool. I liked his Peter Buck story from a weeks ago.

Best: 'going to Funkytown' is gonna catch on HUGE...more than 'tapped'. (ewwwgh)

Worst: I know I will break a heart, but the caller from D.C. talking about the Wild Flag show... that seemed to take up a third of the show just to get to the part about eating someone's hair in the crowd briefly.  She sounded like a new caller who had a different plan in mind initially, so I'll cut her slack for sure, as I've been there.

Exactly. I, too, had trouble sitting through that story. Tom showed a whole lotta restraint on that one I think.
