I'm almost convinced John Hodgeman is a nice guy. I just need 29 more callers to assure me of it.

Loud, over-driven voice on phone: "HELLO...HELLO?"
Tom: "Goodbye."

I cracked up at work when Vance said "okay" after Tom told Vance to not talk about Gentle Giant's second album anymore.

I really enjoy how Jason has been coaching callers on this board.  I can think of noone better for the task.

Along those lines...

Isn't it time that people stop calling with the sole intention of praising someone that Tom likes?

We all know that (Ted Leo, Julie Klausner, Paul F Tompkins, John Hodgman, Wild Flag, ect.) are geniuses at what they do, and nice people off stage.  If you go to one of their events and something interesting happens, then I say call.

But if every Ted Leo fan called in and said how great Ted Leo is, would that be much of a show?

Couldn't agree more. Especially tired of the repetitive use of "class act," "top shelf," and "perfect gentleman."

If somebody called about Shaggy 2 Dope being a swell guy, that would be novel.
