I love - LOVE - when Tom convinces someone that he's in his 60s. The dude this week was taken in despite his clearly having seen pictures of Tom which makes it even better "Well you look good" or whatever he said cracked me up.

In regards to the cicadas attacking a baseball game, it made me think of this, which is close enough to that thought I guess:

made me sad to hear as a big Radiohead/Best Show fan :(
Life is complex. Enjoy it.

"Rock purists". That's a good one. I'll put my knowledge of non-rock against yours any day, Mr. Arty.

I'm not against what Radiohead are doing. I just don't think they're doing it well.

Tom.

I love it when Tom rants against something I love. .. be it a band, a Troma movie, angel dust. Some of my favorite moments of the show!

I wouldn't call myself a huge Radiohead fan, but I like them well enough. That said, I don't believe that they're necessarily deserving of the rapturous praise that they've received over the years. I think my main issue with Radiohead is that the music they make, to me, comes across as cold, mechanical and altogether joyless. They've made some very good, very innovative records, but they seem to be devoid of soul.

Does this make me a rock purist?

I'm still outraged at Tom's lukewarm regard for God Bullies. Their discography heeds closer examination- hits aplenty.

Mike Hard has still got it. Defaming god and country in a barn full of mutants is an ideal live scenario:

Good lord, the Pigpen / Grateful Dead segment tonight made me laugh harder than I have at anything in quite a while.  By the time Tom was fading between the Rascals and Dead versions of Good Lovin, I was pretty much buckled over.  I had it going on my earbuds and my wife and dog were looking at me like I was a crazy person.

Yeah, the Pigpen bit was a work of genius. Kudos to Tom and Mike for that.

Colder, Mr. Yorke, I say colder!

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

I also like the Dead, but if you can't laugh at that, what can you laugh at?

The Grateful Dead section was the highlight of the year thus far I think.

I have a sense that the nights that Tom's patience for callers is thin are rough for him and the callers, but those nights are some of my favorites. Any night were he's already screaming that frustrated scream of resignation by like the second call is gonna be a good one.

There may be something wrong with me in this regard.
