Last night's show was SOOO great.   So many best moments:

BEST:
- "@BESTSHOW!" the first 10 minute blast of MIDI-grunge themed DUDE calls on the hashtag Nature Comedians.  This was like if Kroll Show did an amazing skit parody of @Midnight. My favorite moment in the call was when someone suggested "Robin Williams", and Tom was like (paraphrasing), "Robin Williams... where's the nature?".  Caller: "Robin, as in the bird?".  Tom: "That's a bit literal.. but HEY, It'll pass for AT BEST SHOW!".
- The Kliph Nesteroff story on the Jerry Lewis show story. OH MY GOD.  I never heard of this before.  I ordered The Comedians book thanks to this episode.
- MARY HOULIHAN as a guest.  She's like a Carol Kane or Andrea Martin character come to life in the best way, all meant as a compliment!
- Bohemian Mike-sady, w/ BeBe on the call.  EASILY the best call of the show.

BeBe is also my all-time favorite caller and her Mike impression was gold.

Mary Houlihan's description of the Steely Dan video was so funny that I had to hunt it down.

The Michael McDonald part starts at 6:18

Mary Houlihan may have vaulted into my all-time top 5 in-studio guests.  She was WONDERFUL.

And re-reading Mackro's summary... this may be one of the best shows of the new era.  Kudos to all involved, even the cat flippers.

You missed the pun! Here is the exchange:

C: Robin [something difficult to hear]
T: Robin what?
C: Robin Williams.
T: Robin Williams?
C: Yeah.
T: Wh- I don't get it.
C: The bird?
T: Oh Ro- OK, well that's so literal!
C: Yeah.
T: But you know what? It flies at @BestShow, thanks buddy.

related to the steely dan talk, donald fagan's book has tons of hilarious stories along the lines of the michael mcdonald torture. there's a mean-spirited thing where he imagines setting the audience at a Dan show on fire because they're all middle-aged yuppies (which he consistently denies being).

also, in regards to michael mcdonald, the fantastic SCTV sketch about him:

Every time an author calls in to talk about their book I immediately want to read it.

Loved last night's show.  Basically the whole block with Fred From Honolulu was really great... between Tom, Mike, and Gary.

I was bummed to hear only 11 people listened to the show last week from Tom during the show?  Seriously?

I download every Best Show feed item, but since I listen to the Best Show live most nights, I don't listen to the download.   If I need to both download *and* listen to the Best Show episodes, I will do that.   I always download everything regardless, and try to listen live every Tuesday night, but if I need to do more, please let me know.  (The obvious exception is Half Hour of Power, since that's not broadcast live, so I download *and* listen to all of those.)

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

If Tom ever does have a chance to talk to Patti Smith again, I bet she won't even remember the Humble Pie incident.

I bet she doesn't remember yesterday
