I hit the chat button accidentally on Monday or Tuesday, and the board reveals that I have been there ever since despite repeated attempts to leave.  It's a lonely place to be.

aw, word filters is part of what makes a board awesome! Sort of a forced FOT lingo. I guess it's confusing for new posters, and could be seen as esoteric, but I really enjoyed the filters. Especially totally tubular. I guess there's nothing stopping me from using the filter words, but it's just not the same.

When/why did the Bill Hicks filtering start? I recently added him to my mental "I Don't Get It" list.

I thought it was a prank for anyone who typed Bill Hicks (a pretty good comedian) to have it rendered unwittingly as Benny Hill (the worst ever).  This is what happened to me.  Is there more to the story?

I dunno about the Hicks/Hill thing, but I figured it was something like what Fido said.

The filters had been around long enough that I'd started typing "Chinatown" and "totally tubular" instead of the words I actually wanted to use.
