When I went to see the movie Monday night, the crowd was not laughing particularly hard at the Tom Cruise bits.  Everyone kind of whispered when they figured out who he was, there was that brief enjoyment of recognition, but beyond that?  Crickets.  Guess that kinda refutes your statement, right?

I thought the main problem with Tropic Thunder was that it essentially became the film it was trying to parody: a bloated, overly expensive action dud.  I was expecting satire or at least funny jokes, but what I got was another near-laughless action-comedy, as if there weren't enough of those.

All of this year's major film comedies have disappointed me to some degree.  Last year now feels like a distant comedy paradise (Knocked Up, Superbad, Walk Hard, The Ten) compared to this year's sorry crop (I did think Pineapple Express was pretty good but, again, a disappointment considering what it COULD'VE been, esp. with David Gordon Green directing).

The main problem with Tropic Thunder is that there are 3 4 pages of discussion about it on this board. And The Ten, are you serious?
"Alright, well, for the sake of this conversation, let's say the book does not exist."

I'm convinced that Raad_Man is some other FOT, exorcising his (surely not her) demons that would have previously been set free in fotchan.

Raad_Man is my new favorite FOT.

This motherfucker is real.

I keep thinking he looks like this, though:

I'm with KTB. Raad_Man brings the goods and puts the Floonies of the world to shame. Haters be damned.

I was just thinking of Jim Anchower today when deciding whose image to print on my Zazzles:

Yes.  That was a very funny movie.  Not all the segments worked, but the ones that did were pretty hilarious.
Don't worry, I'm not actually a fan of the film Se7en.  I just think that numerical spelling is hilarious.

Totally, me too.  I still miss Flooney, though.

Hey Raad_Man, did you see Tropic Thunder at Film Forum too?
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

i wanted to kick that main character in the balls sack becaue he's such a pussy.

I love this sentence and also I am confused by it.

I know, I really have nothing to add to this topic and yet I am compelled to keep reading.

I want to like Ben Stiller, but his movies are always a little too much or not enough...

fuck yes.  and they have special guests all the time.  ivan reitman was there for stripes.  and tarantino is always there.  he was sitting behind me during mondo caine, this awesome movie about how fucked up other countries are.  really eye opening stuff.

aside from the fact that the sound and picture there is questionable, seating being awful, and some other things....i went there for blade runner and one of their "special guests." it was a guy who rambled for 45 minutes and acted like he was close to ridley scott and actually made decisions on the film. this guy isn't even listed on imdb, and apprently was just a PA on the film. ughhhhhhh, i don't want to go back there because of that junk.

At the nicest theater in Knoxville, they use a clean sheet to project the movie onto every day.
