Monorchid were awesome.  Members later created Skull Kontrol, which has the best EP sleeve design ever:

but yeah, all on Touch and Go

this site provides a great virtual walking tour of a bunch of DC musical landmarks. Pretty slick.

I am scared of this album cover. Very scared. This is all my fault for erroneously mentioning the Monorchid.

I am scared of this album cover.

I'll say Fugazi.  The only Shudder to Think album I have is Curses, Spells.... I guess I should get the Ten Spot.

I liked Bluetip too.

I would have to say Slant 6.
A poor man's Bronson Pinchot.

Wow. Who knew that Dough Martsch was the man behind the goatse phenomenon? I remember this album  now ... I was shocked when I took my nephew to my local WalMart and he had to see this prominently displayed on the shelves of their music section!!

All kidding aside ... after looking at this post I listened to this album today at rhapsody.com. Thumbs up on Treepeople! Their music is much more agreeable than their album cover.

And also ...

This is the cover for that monorchid album I was talking about (their debut):

... Another one that treads the fine line between "awesome" and "whoever made this should be locked up".

At the moment, this album can be bought for a song at amazon.com ... A song in the key of $60.00. Yikes!

Yes! I also wish Beauty Pill was more prolific.

No love for the Evens or Soccer Team? They don't necessarily beat Fugazi with me but they deserve some credit.

as far as the newer dischord bands go, medications are my favorite.

They were all fired up and ready to go last year and then Chad had a major health setback. Hopefully soon they'll be some good news regarding Beauty Pill.
