I just read about a new reality show in this week's TV Guide Fall Preview issue... Hulk Hogan Celebrity Championship Wrestling (Premieres 10/18 on CMT). This was their description: "The world champ forms a wrestling team made up of reality-TV retreads (Danny Bonaduce, Dustin Diamond, Todd Bridges, & Tiffany)."

Two potential fab five jerks on a program hosted by another jerk, Hulk Hogan!

1) Prince was set to appear on TRL but he and his entourage were running very late. Finally at the end of the show when they make their way to the set, Carson Daily speaks with Prince.
"Hey, Prince, we're glad to have you, but it would've been great if you were here on time because we had a lot of great stuff we wanted to do with you."
Prince replies: "I don't use time."
"Well, what do you use?"
Prince thinks this over for a moment, and then gives his answer. "Truth."
An awesome reply, but very jerky if true.

This actually gets him off the jerk list for me because it was in reply to Carson Daly, and featured on TRL. I think Prince is just morphing into the Dave Chappelle impression.

I couldn't tell you what podcast it was on, but I'm pretty sure that was Chris Hardwick telling the story. And I think it's slightly too awesome (TRL is hardly an institution to be respected) to be used as jerk evidence.

Glad Leykis made it on to the list.  Anybody who goes on the air, telling his legion of morons how to induce miscarriages (which I've heard him do on the show), should be the top ... Or I suppose the very bottom of the Jerk heap.

So I was listening to Tuesday's show while unpacking my apartment and laughing out loud at the Fab-Five of Jerks (or the Traveling Wilbury's of Jerks) when somebody called in about Philip DeFranco. Based on Tom's reaction I HAD to see a video of this guy.

I was not prepared for it. He's the kind of bad where you don't even know how to explain it. How is he awful? I can't even try to summarize it. There's no way. It's almost like the belief in God. There's no way explaining how you have faith, it's just that you do. Accordingly, there's no way to explain how awful he is you just have to watch it. I think Philip DeFranco is the Jesus of jerks.

He even ended it by saying "...and you've just been 'Philled' in." Amazing.

Oh THAT Philip Defranco ... I've run across his videos a few times.  I didn't know he was on Tom's radar though.  His reaction was so hilarious.  I was listening to the show again while working at the hotel last night and Tom's Super Groan started while I was making a wake-up call.  The guest I was waking up asked, "Steve, what IS that?"  I told him I'd explain after he had his coffee.

I don't really think Kevin Smith is a jerk. I'm no fan of his work, but everything I've heard about the guy suggests he's pretty affable. He just got lucky, and I think he knows it.

I think this beyond jerky and not-jerky in a Nietzschean sort of way.  It's going to be my excuse for always being late from now until I die.

Thanks to a very public sexual harassment case against Isiah Thomas and MSG, the world got to hear the seamy details of the loutish corporate culture cultivated by Dolan.  The guy is known for his short temper; he fired an employee for serving flat soda.

I don't know. I think he brings too much humor and incompetence to be a jerk. I've bought so many newspapers because I knew I'd read more about him.
