internet redirect problems
« on: September 08, 2008, 07:07:29 PM »
I've tried internet sites and yahoo questions and all that, but thought someone here might have a solution.  I've tried avg and cc cleaner and stuff thats free that i can find, but whenever i use a search engine and click on a link it redirects me to something awful.  Sometimes when i type in urls in the main window or whatever it works, othertimes it doesn't.  Also, sometimes when i type in the urls of certain spyware or whatever else cleaners my computer simply doesnt woro.

Has anyone experienced this?  And have a solution or something to look for?  I'm pessimisitic about an easy solution but was thinking someone out there could help.

thanks
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

i assume you're on windows. restart and while rebooting keep hitting F8 till it brings up a menu screen. go into safe mode and run all the anti-virus, anti-spyware programs you have one by one. maybe that will help. but the worst kind of spywares/viruses are really persistent and this won't fix them.

last resort is to back your documents, music etc somewhere else, format your drive and do a clean reinstall of windows.

If you have a particular site you really need to go to, and the malware is preventing you from doing this, www.tinyurl.com might be of help.

For instance, http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php may be somewhere you want to go.

I made a tinyurl of that site:  http://tinyurl.com/yt5z4p

If you can copy the address of a particular site, but can't visit it, go to tinyurl and see if you can get around that by visiting a tinyurl.  (This very well might not work, but it's worth a shot.)
