But yeah, if you like soul music with a hard-charging rhythm section, check out the people who recorded for Stax records in the 1960s. Otis Redding. The Bar-Kays. Booker T. & the MGs. Rufus & Carla Thomas. Sam & Dave. All that stuff. It was a good time for southern soul. And ampersands.

No shit! It was the golden age of ampersands! I keep waiting for a resurgence, but maybe I'm just stuck in the past. Anyway, it would be cool to see an ampersand revival someday.

Sigh.

I guess I got my hopes up too high when Kriss & Kross came out, expecting a flood of ampersbands that never came.

Same thing with Big & Dipper.

Oh well.

I have like 10-15 rock albums and one of the ones I actually went out and physically bought with my own money back in the day was "Atari Teenage Riot - 60 Sec Wipeout" so I think I have a soft spot for really  noisy frenetic stuff, I don't know, I didn't like any of the rest of the DHR stuff I came across.

ha!
ATR had a big impact on me when i was in high school. middle school even. that's def not their best album tho.

as for the other DHR stuff, Shizuo and Christoph De Babalon were godlike. i'll never get tired of their DHR stuff. Bomb 20's DHR album was great but everything else he did sucked. Lolita Storm and Fidel Villeneuve each put out one extremely underrated album out on the label and then left, and the label hasn't released anything worthwhile since. Patric Catani did a lot of incredible groundbreaking stuff. Alec Empire changed my life for good, but he fell off hard after "miss black america".

WHEN YOU'VE REACHED YOUR PEAK IT'S TIME TO DIE!!!
