taking a mental health day
« on: October 08, 2008, 10:27:44 AM »
I didn't go to school today - I'm sick enough to stay home but not sick enough to not be bored. I have homework but I don't want to do it. As it stands, my day is going to consist of watching a thousand PVRed episodes of Mad Men and reading the entire Youtube links thread. Can anyone think of anything better for me to do?

throw a book in there.  during personal bathroom time works- it wont impose on your other time.

two birds, one stone.

Watch really horrible day time talk shows.  Although that's not much better.

Reading is BORING.

Spend a few hours finding something fun to make for lunch (and then make it).

Fun game: try to spot some of the subtle, barely-there moments in Mad Men when they portray the 1960s workplace as misogynistic. It's tougher than a Where's Waldo? book.

You're emphasis on the word "do" leads me to believe that someone once said I have a gross soul (???)

Souls are BORING anyway.

Find a book with a dramatic title, and hollow it out. Keep various contraband or snacks as you see fit.

Don't make it "MacBeth" though. Cops always know to look in MacBeth for the gun.

But if your copy of "The Thief of Always" has twizzlers and squirt gun (make sure it doesn't leak), then you've set yourself up for tomorrow's hilarity.

This is all good stuff.

FASCINATING SICK DAY RECAP: I watched 5 PVRed Colbert Reports and 3 Mad Men (cutout, your game was too hard so I played Spot The Colour Orange instead - it's in basically every shot! WHO KNEW) and 1 episode of the Tyra Banks show just for you, Beth. I also read a book and a half, drank about eight thousand cups of tea, and made a pretty good lunch.

Also, I went into a wikipedia trance for a little while, but I learned things so it wasn't so bad. Were you guys aware that the Toronto Public Library system is the second busiest in the world, after Hong Kong's? Now you are!

Damn. That's what I call productive. You should skip school a lot more often!

if you post enough pictures of Tyra, she's totally show up and bring the craziness to a whole new level.

I would love it if Tyra started posting.  That show is awesome.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.
