Speaking of freelancing...
« on: October 15, 2008, 09:31:47 AM »
Certain conversations in last night's show were timely for me--about freelance writing, no job too small, etc.  Just yesterday my main client reduced my hours from 100% to 50%.   Since they were my first (and only), I just used their contract and sprinkled in a little 10-Speed where I thought fit.

Now that I got my hours reduced, I probably should have my own contract so they don't try to get the same 10-Speed for half the price.  But I'm afraid if I write my own, I'll come off sounding like an amateur (which I am).

My questions, if you got this far:

1) Did you get a lawyer to write up your contract?  (I feel like I'm too small a fish for this, and generally prefer DIY (i.e I'm cheap))

2) Do you know of any resources that I can peruse sample contracts?  (I've done my obligatory googling, but everyone charges, and again, I'm cheap)

3) Do you want to show me yours?  (I'll be your BFFOT friend, and the next time someone starts shit with you, I'll jump in and say "Hey, that's my BFFOT, fall back, son.")

But seriously, any resources or websites that you have used in the past would be greatly appreciated.

go by the barnes and nobles or the liberry. They have whole books for people in your position.

How dare you.

Sorry I can't help you out.
