I've have never heard a worse analysis of this year in music than the one provided by All Songs Considered.

A summary of the show:
You know what band is great, Bon Iver?
Boy, I sure do love the Fleet Foxes.
We should probably also mentioned My Morning Jacket to cover all our bearded guy bases.
That Coldplay record was just ok, but we should probably talk about it for a while anyways.
Mentioning Santogold & TV on the Radio covers our minority demographic right?

If Dave can list 25 in his top ten list, I can add that I forgot to add the great Parallax Error Beheads You by Max Tundra.

A local newspaper asked me to submit a list for their entertainment section. (Yes, I actually the pride of Staten Island.) This is what a sent them. I'll probably write up an expanded version on my blog sometime before President's Day.

In no particular order other than the order they occurred to me:

1 Thomas Function Celebration (Alive)
2 Prisonshake Dirty Moons (Scat)
3 Thee Oh Sees The Master's Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In (Castle-Face Records / Tomlab Records)
4 Meth Teeth Bus Rides EP (Sweet Rot)
5 Vivian Girls s/t (Mauled By Tigers/In the Red)
6 Oxford Collapse BITS (Sub Pop)
7 Hank IV Refuge in Genre (Siltbreeze)
8 Eddy Current Suppression Ring Primary Colours (Goner)
9 Nothing People Anonymous (S-S)
10 Lines Memory Span (Acute reissue)
The only Wire I care about is the one that recorded Pink Flag.

The greatest song of the year was this, however. I think everyone can agree with this.

Blackout Crew, 'Put A Donk On It'

They rehearse in the same building as us, they were part of a community outreach programme that could arguably be said to have caused long-term damage with tunes like this.
