Which FOT's will be in attendance? We should get together and have some of that gourmet pizza they serve in the corner. Can't find a better slice anywhere in the building!

ok, so if you guys have time during this week and can get to NYC, my husband's band "Wow & Flutter" is playing the CMJ at The Knitting Factory.  I think the band is going to try to get to the the record fair to see if they can find Tom there.

I'm pretty broke, but I'll be there as usual, sulking in a corner by the LP Modification Booth.  If anyone recognizes me, definitely say hi.

Oh man I'm so excited about this.  I moved from NY to Memphis 2  1/2 years ago and have missed the last three fairs.  I will be there on Saturday and Sunday for sure---can't really afford the higher admission fee on Friday.

The above obviously applies to me.  However my lady companion for the trip felt the full force of lonely male-dom there.  I guess it wasn't as bad as a comic book convention.

I will say that the WFMU record fair is much more tolerable than other record fairs I've been to in the suburbs of New Jersey.  For example, there is a decent amount of female participants, instead of just two or three.  There are still, though, a bunch of lonely male hippies in the convention corners.

Hey, everyone.  I'm going to be volunteering on Saturday as "overflow."  I could be anywhere (although there's a good chance I'll be at the "swag" table)!

Say hello if you see me.  I'll be there all day until around 7 pm, when I head over to the Merge Show at the Mercury Lounge.

I'm especially excited to meet Spike.  Wait, which one is "excited" again?

So true! I think I'm the only one actually looking for music to listen to at the one I go to instead of trying to find "a real gem". I had one guy talk my ear off about this rare Groundhogs album he had when all I wanted to do was give him 10 bucks for Thank Christ For the Bomb. If he wanted to talk about the band that would be one thing, but I couldn't give a crap about a record.

I think that first pressings, mint sleeves and that sort of thing are kind of cool, I guess.  I just don't want to pay for it.  There's nothing better than a really good album in a dollar bin because someone's crayoned on the cover or something, when the record itself is in perfect condition.

In fact, I like it when there's writing on old albums, or dedications or little bookmarks in old books.  I found an old to-do list inside a book from the 19-teens recently.

I found that Rocket From the Tombs bootleg and I think I'm going to bring it to the next show and ask a dealer if they'll give me all their dollar bin records that they brought with them for it. I'm going to have to find a dealer who actually knows who the band is though.

thats how i feel about most releases- i dont buy vinyl for anything more than to enjoy who i bought.  not to mention, you are on the money about scribblings.  thats my favorite thing about buying vinyl at thrift stores.  ive got more stranger's names on my vinyl than i ever thought i would have.
