hot dogs are delicious- especially nathan's or hebrew national- and one of two things that i refuse to skimp on at the grocery store.

the other is toilet paper.

Only two types of dogs enter this temple: Hebrew National and coctail weiners.

Toronto has a frightening number of hotdog stands, and while I used to enjoy one now and again back in my meat-eating days (1991-this past june), nothing put me off the idea of eating a hot dog more than the smell of one of those carts.

Now, in those times when I am hungry and only have $2 on my person, it is all about the hot dog cart veggie dogs for me. There's very little noticeable difference, texture- or taste-wise, and they smell a little less gross.

Nathan's are kosher dogs, and that's why they taste different. They're also larger than hebrew national or Saval brand, and they're pretty tasty. But really I don't think they taste that different than other kosher hot dogs I've eaten.

Kosher hot dogs are garlicky and delicious and meaty. And they don't have that weird texture that regular ballpark franks have. (I still eat the non-kosher ones sometimes but not when I can avoid it.)

and youve got to buy 2 or 3 at once because they sell out EVERY time.

My favorite part of vegetarianism might be never having to eat a hot dog.

The only kinds of meat I used to like were things like hot dogs, sausage, chicken nuggets, handburgers, etc.  Stuff like steak and ribs always made me want to hurl.*

This is a fun interactive map for anyone who enjoys their ballpark meats squished and encased:

Spoiler: The Dodger Dog gets no respect from The Gray Lady.  But that's okay.  Everyone knows that they're biased towards  onions, mustard and sauerkraut--damn liberal media.

Wait whuuuuuuuut? An unnatural hot dog?
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Bah.  Don't knock something you've never tried.  Do I dismiss vegetarian hot dogs out of hand?  I do not.  How's about a little golden rulery here?

I was just reminded of this: Has anyone else ever had a kosher hot dog wrapped in a slice of fried kosher bologna?

One of my favorite things to get when we went "out to dinner" as a kid!

I ate plenty of hot dogs pre-vegetarianism, so I have experience. I suppose my tastes could have changed in the last six or so years, but I'm not sure I've ever tried a vegetarian hot dog since I assume they're made to taste like the normal kind.

Here's one for vegetarians and meat eaters alike: sides and condiments.

1) Which side(s) do you prefer: Beans, Potato Chips or Mac & Cheese?

2) Condiment(s): ketchup, mustard, relish (India or Sweet), sauerkraut or cheese?

3) Will you eat a plain hot dog in a bun? Without a bun?

Sorry.  I misunderstood.  If you've tried them and don't like them, then of course you've got every right to judge them.  I thought you were getting all snooty and vegetariany on us carnivores.
