I figured Tom would have this as a topic tonight but since it was canceled, maybe it makes a good topic for the board? Anyway, it's 3am and I have a cold that will probably keep me up till 4.
I got the Wire: Season 1. Never seen an episode but I've never been recommended something so vehemently. I have gotten death threats for not getting to it sooner.
Got seasons 3, 4, and 5 of The Sopranos. I finally caught up on the first two seasons these past few months after years of procrastinating and loved it. Hopefully I can catch up for the end, but I want to savor the third season cuz friends have told me it kind of falls off after that.
Got some Cheap Trick, Yo La Tengo, and Dirtbombs albums my cousin burned me from his collection. Three bands I'd been meaning to check out for years but was too stingy to go out and buy blindly. I haven't listened to any of the Dirtbombs or Yo La Tengo stuff yet but all the Cheap Trick is great.
My dad got me two tickets to the Buffalo Sabres game this Saturday. He got them off of StubHub actually! It was really the only option, you can't get two seats together for any games upcoming soon the old-fashioned way.
I can't sleep without white noise so my mom bought me one of those noise-makers as a surprise. I had been using this really old, loud fan but that wasn't really working anymore on nights with temperatures below 30.
In my stocking, I got one of those micro-touch 'precision groomers' you see advertised on TV for my nose hair after an attempt with regular nail scissors led to a 10-11 hour bloody nose earlier last month.
I gave my sister that new movie, "The Notorious Bettie Page" because she is obsessed with her. She wanted Jenna Jameson's 2006 calendar but it would be a tad too creepy for me to actually go to the store and get that at all, much less for my younger sister.
Got my mom the first season of "Boston Legal" and Josh Groban's new cd. Both of which she asked for....I suck at unsolicited gifts. Hence my seemingly selfish lack of involvement in the FOT secret santa.
And we all pitched in and got my dad this 'weather station' thing that tells him pretty much everything you want to know about the outdoor/indoor atmosphere....temperature, humidity, air pressure, phase of the moon, tides, etc. We hoped that it would keep him from constantly watching the weather channel but it turns out it's just making him watch it more.
