incompetent youtube renditions
« on: December 04, 2008, 04:22:39 PM »
Sorry if this is completely random, but I wasn't able to find an answer via Google....

Sometime last year, there was a guy on YouTube who dubbed his own (shaky, incompetent) cover versions of songs over top of old videos like Van Halen's "Jump". They were synch'd up perfectly but a lot of the notes were wrong and the singing was bad -- anyone remember this?

If you're wondering what got me thinking of incompetent performances, it would be this -

they got taken down for copyright according to this article:

Weird. I found them on Google Video, though:

Crap, I don't know if it was the same guy, but the concept was very similar. It wasn't just the solo guitar stuff, it was a whole band covering the song, playing it almost convincingly, but still badly....

this was my favorite clip from axl over the last few years.  it was at the download festival.  there was some little axl incident, where he got pissed at the crowd, or the crew or something and he left the stage for a while. the crowd was really pissed and chanting and shit.  so then they came back out and they started with one of their new songs "better," but axl clearly wasn't into it and the crowd tought it sucked and someone through a bottle of piss and hit tommy stinson in the head.  then he threw his bass down and stormed off.  the band took a break, and he came out and apologized for throwing his bass and told people to stop throwing piss at him because it was disrespectful.  they played the rest of the song again but axl wasn't into it and tommy got pissed off at axl for giving up.

axl's lawyers made them take the clip down from youtube but they posted again but just replaced 'better'

this one's got a shot of the kick ass pyro before the whole piss throwing thing.
