I bet the FOTs could brainstorm the next big niche blog. We just have to point out a phenomenon that no one has sufficiently run into the ground yet. If you pitch it, I can build the website. And its imminent success will finally score Tom his book deal. Everybody wins.

i had an idea for, and own the domain for mymostprizedpossession.com. It was basically gonna be one of those user submitted content deals where people would photograph (or draw, if it didn't exist anymore) the item that they considered the most valuable tangible item (none of this "my baby daughter's giggle" bullshit) they own/ or have ever owned. the pics would be accompanied by a short blurb about what the thing was, and what it meant to them.

someone called the idea gay, so I kind of got discouraged. then, i just got lazy.

I've seen other sites that remind me of this concept, and if people are creative about it -- not dumb about it, like you were suggesting, it's a great idea. Not that I really have the time to implement it myself. (It reminds me of clever and cool stuff I've probably run across on design websites.)

If people call an idea like that gay, they're probably not people whose opinions you should listen to anyway. Don't listen to the haters!
