wedding intro music
« on: December 22, 2008, 05:30:31 PM »
I'm getting married on Saturday and neither my fiancee or I have music picked out. It's a pretty non-traditional wedding and we're looking for something pretty and nice for the walk down the aisle, but something that's also contemporary and not deadly serious. Any suggestions?

My friends walked out to Love Me Tender. Just saying. I don't have any great suggestions.

Congratulations!

My fiancee chose the instrumental version of Hey Jude from Royal Tenenbaums, but it might be kinda long for you depending on how many people you have walking.

I also like the Wilco song "Someday some morning sometime"

Congrats!

Since it's almost (still) Christmas on Saturday, how about something from this?

Amiina might be a good non-traditional choice for something like this:

Or, less seriously, any of these songs:

Or maybe just organ music?

P.S. I could send you .mp3s of the Amiina album if you want.  I think it would be a really nice choice.

Love that Only Ones record, but probably too rockin'.

The Amina suggestion is great!

A friend of mine insists he's getting married to 'Plays John Cassavetes' by Ekkehard Ehlers - http://www.last.fm/music/Ekkehard+Ehlers - which is here. It's a really beautiful piece. Maybe falls a little heavily on the serious side, but it's got that wonderful undercurrent of joy and tempestuousness and harmonic balance that any good wedding (in a film, in my mind) has.

Have a listen, it's a good song whether you're getting hitched or not.
"How do they see you when there's no light?"

The Amina and Ehlers songs are fantastic, I'm trying to convince my fiancee right now.

FWIW, the wedding is in a live arts theater and we'll be getting hitched on the Sweeney Todd set. There will also be a Top Ten list segment ("10 Reasons the Bride and Groom Should Get Married") with crowd participation. Outro music will be "This Will Be Our Year" by the Zombies.

I won't know til it's too late whether any of this is a good idea.

I love this song so much.  Fantastic choice!

Sounds like an amazing wedding to me.
