I have avoided 24, LOTR, Harry Potter (books and movies), Family Guy.

For me, I almost called in with The Pogue's for TBSOWFMU's topic "Now I Get It."  Hated my first introduction -- a friend whose tastes I liked gave me Hell's Ditch. It took me years to give them another chance and I love them now.

Same for me with the Pogues and nowadays I have total respect for Shane McGowan & co, songwriting-wise anyway. Just to callback to the karaoke thread for good measure, my favorite of all-time to sing is "Fairytale of New York" with a little help from the wife.

Ha. I've done that with the wife, too. She may have put too much into the "You scumbag..." line but good times.

I keep hearing "Extras" is (or was) great, so I don't know why I haven't seen a single episode yet. Same with "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and pretty much every other critically-lauded half-hour comedy, with the exception of "Flight of the Conchords."

Am I wrong for not thinking that "Chuck" would be great if I ever watched it? People seem to like it, but I get the feeling that it's just like "Scrubs," only with spy-related stuff. Also, it's an hour long.

I will probably never watch this, despite all the raving about it:

Neil Patrick Harris: I don't get it.

I think it's a decent 3 x 15 minutes.

I've never done heroin.  I hear it's pretty rad.

In all seriousness, I bet I would love acid or shrooms, but I'm way too scared of what would happen to my fragile, fragile brain if I were to take them.

I completely agree, to such an extent that I could have written that message.

That's why I'm planning to delay my experimentation with drugs until I am well into old age. If it fucks me up too badly, well, no problem. My mind will be addled and atrophied by that point anyway.

Drugs make people less interesting.

I am pretty sure that's true. So you won't be disappointed if I don't get around to it, right?

Well, I would be pretty impressed if you hobbled your rickety way to a corner to cop a rock when you were eighty, but I certainly won't be disappointed if you don't.  Especially since I'll probably be dead by then anyway.

I have avoided 24, Harry Potter (books and movies), Family Guy.

Ditto all of these, though I did catch an episode of FG once and hoo boy, what a piece of crap.  Totally unfunny.  I also feel like 24 would totally enrage me on civil liberties grounds and sheer racist stupidity, and so I've managed to successfully avoid it.

Have not seen Dr. Horrible either, but Joss Whedon is hit-or-miss for me; the Buffy musical made me want to die by shrinking into a little heavy lump of mass, like a dwarf star of embarrassment.  Haven't heard No Age, caught one episode of Extras and didn't like it (all cringe, no laffs), watched the pilot for Chuck and thought it sucked.  I also watched one episode of Flight of the Conchords and was left scratching my head, even though I've laughed at peoples' descriptions of the show; it's like it's more funny to hear described than to actually watch.  I also rented season one of Heroes and couldn't make it past the first episode.

I'll probably wind up hearing some Bonnie "Prince" Billy at some point (I must have some mp3s, maybe from Salon.com?), but I feel like I probably won't like it.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.
