ABBA box 2008
« on: January 25, 2009, 03:09:58 PM »
just in case anyone cares, there was a new somewhat slimmed down version of the ABBA box that came out a few months ago. it still has all the albums, but without any bonus tracks or DVDs. there's 1 cd of non-album tracks. it takes up a lot less space than the other box (not to mention the box i have of the first 8 Queen albums which is huge).

just figured in case tom's played ABBA so much that it converted any other former non-believers such as myself, if you can't track down the super-deluxe box tom has, this one's easily available and a lot cheaper (i paid 50 bucks plus shipping for it)

I purchased this as well after hearing some of the deep cuts. It's great!

Does anyone know of any good books about ABBA?

Thanks!

I don't know whether the field of ABBA scholarship will ever yield anything on par with, say, "Three Dog Nightmare," but this seems to be the definitive bio:

Abba: Bright Lights Dark Shadows

Editorial Reviews
Review
'...compelling and incredibly detailed...essential reading for anyone wondering what the pop world looked like in the 1970s...' MOJO
'An extraordinary book...Palm makes a case for Abba being THE musical story of the 20th century. After reading this Dancing Queen will never sound the same again.' Q
**** 'Another fine addition to the canon of music biographies...Palm's biography is extremely thorough and dipped deeply in a pond of melancholy. A powerful, moving read' THE TIMES
