Heard a segment on air today from Charles Grodin while I was waiting to hear "trafficandweathertogether" or something like that. His segment, probably no more than 60 seconds long, was a little commentary about cell phones. His story was about this friend of his who always answers his cell phone no matter what. He could be in the middle of rescuing people from a downed jet in the Hudson River, and Mr. Grodin's friend would answer his phone promptly. His query: Don't we have caller ID on most or all cell phones to obviate the need for this? That was it.
Now, I've got nothing against the guy, or didn't until this week's Best Show. But I gotta say, that piece didn't add much to my day. Might have even taken the level down a few notches. Paul Harvey could have done better. Whatever CBS is paying this guy, it might worthwhile to weigh the value-added against the cash outlay.
