Overheard on Twitter:

"You wanna know what's wrong with the new Decemberists' album? It rhymes with 'schmarpisichord'."

I'd be amazed in Colin Meloy wasn't reading Calvino's Invisible Cities when he wrote "The Infanta."

I listened to their live version of The Hazards of Love. It's as if Jethro Tull was fronted by Mo Rocca. I liked some of it.

Haters. I absolutely love this album and I've never really loved the Decemberists.

Their music just doesn't seem very...sincere, to me. Ya know what I mean?

Does all music need to be sincere? Sometimes I am not so sure it does.

Why wouldn't it?

Sincerity is a motivation, not a result.

Hey, you're reading me wrong, I loved The Crane Wife. But listen to three of their songs, then listen to three-five minutes of Mo Rocca commentary, and tell me anyone's actually ever seen Mo and Colin in the same place at the same time.
